GF-7 Satellite

GF-7, also known as Gaofen-7, is an important part of China's High-Resolution Earth Observation System program. It was successfully launched in November 2019 and is China's first civilian sub-meter-class optical stereo mapping satellite. GF-7 carries a dual-line-array laser altimeter and high-resolution stereo cameras, giving it strong capabilities in geographic surveying and 3D modeling.

Its spatial resolution reaches the meter level, meaning that objects on the ground measuring at least one meter can be clearly distinguished. In urban areas, the imagery can reveal the shapes and structures of cars, roads, and individual buildings. In rural and wilderness areas, it can identify houses, fields, and water boundaries, and can even distinguish different types of vehicles and facilities. GF-7 data is widely used in land surveying, urban planning, disaster monitoring, and precision agriculture. It supports the production of high-precision maps and the collection of geospatial information, marking an important step toward higher precision in China's satellite remote sensing capabilities.
