Introduction to Taipei City, China
Taipei City is located in northern Taiwan Province, China. It is a major political, economic, cultural, and transportation center, as well as a large city with a high concentration of population and urban functions. The city covers approximately 272 square kilometers. Although its administrative area is relatively limited, development is intensive: residential areas, businesses, offices, and public services are densely concentrated. Together with nearby areas such as New Taipei City and Keelung, it forms the extensive Taipei metropolitan area, where millions of people live and urban connections are closely integrated.
Built on a basin landscape, Taipei's urban development extends mainly along the Tamsui River, the Xindian River, and major transportation corridors. Key central districts include Zhongzheng, Xinyi, Da'an, and Songshan. Xinyi District is the city's modern business and commercial center, and Taipei 101 and the surrounding high-rise buildings embody its international character. Taipei's MRT, bus, and railway systems support a large volume of daily commuting. Overall, Taipei City has a limited land area but a high urban density, comprehensive functions, and strong regional influence. It is a core city that accommodates highly urbanized activity within a compact area.
